Gola, who lives in the Pine Valley section of Bustleton, has been in a coma since falling and hitting his head on a curb on July 25, as he was going out to dinner.
Gola and his wife were married in June 1955, a month after he graduated college and just before he would embark on a successful professional basketball career.
Gola retired from the New York Knicks in 1966 and was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives later that year.
