Thomas Lawson McCall (March 22, 1913 – January 8, 1983) was an American politician, a Republican, and the thirtieth governor of Oregon from 1967 to 1975.
McCall attended the University of Oregon and graduated with a degree in journalism in 1936.
McCall appears briefly (on a TV set) in the famous 1975 film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in a cameo role based on his time at KGW.

McCall was born in Egypt, Massachusetts on March 22, 1913, the son of Henry McCall and Dorothy Lawson McCall.
In 1973 McCall developed a plan for tax reform which included an increase in the income tax and a freeze on property taxes, with the goal to shift funding for schools away from property taxes and toward the income of the wealthy.

As a journalist McCall reported on the sources and impacts of the pollution in the Willamette, most famously in his one-hour documentary special from 1962 titled “Pollution in Paradise.” As Governor he tightened state restrictions on allowable discharges into the river and also stepped-up the state's enforcement of its water quality standards.
McCall's success in helping to restore the Willamette won national acclaim, including coverage in both Newsweek and National Geographic magazines.
Nearly 40 pages of the book concentrates on McCall's work to help clean up the river, thereby contributing an important narrative in the river's history by explaining why, how and to what degree that McCall's efforts were successful in mobilizing popular support and political action in the protection of the Willamette.

In his 1917 address Governor Samuel McCall of Massachusetts requested governmental reorganization and money to finance a constitutional revision commission --- requests striking similar to those made today, in 1973, by another Governor McCall.
Samuel McCall also urged compulsory health insurance, improvements in the workmen’s compensation system, cost of living controls, renewed attention to traffic safety, and prohibition of billboards along scenic highways.
Governor Samuel McCall’s ideas are on target even now; and a paragraph of inspiration in his address also is as applicable today as it was then, and as applicable to Oregon as to Massachusetts.
