Shortly thereafter, and with much less publicity and enthusiasm, session man Jon Brant (who often used to drive Comita to rehearsals) became the new bass man. The first album recorded with Brant was One on One, the group's seventh album in 1982.
He did a brief stint with Enuff Z' Nuff, and in 1984, when original former Cheap Trick bassist Tom Petersson released his Tom Petersson And Another Language EP with wife Dagmar, Comita was invited to join their band, called Sick Man of Europe.

Audacious, visionary, and highly capable, the innovative Petersson has dedicated himself to creating the unique sounds he hears in his head—sounds he wasn’t able to fully realize until he invented the 12-string bass, a 4-string with lighter-gauge octave strings running next to the standard strings.
Petersson is now on the road with the Waterstone basses, delivering the monstrous tone through his Reeves amp rigs.

Bassist Petersson quit the band for a few years, but then came back with their 1988 release Lap of Luxury, which produced their #1 hit, "The Flame." Invigorated by this success, Cheap Trick entered the '90s with the album Busted, which again produced Top-40 material.
