..:: The Tom and Jerry Online :: An Unofficial Site ::..
Tom is a fiendish opportunist, always anxious to ingratiate himself with the powers that be, wether housekeeper, dog, or even, on occasion, mouse; while Jerry, the impish schemer, is happy minding his own business until cornered, piqued or generally provoked.
Tom was given Boris Karloff eyebrows that enhanced his diabolical demeanor, and in many poses bears a strong resemblance to Bugs himself, with a tail and cropped ears.
Tom and Jerry had always been backstage buddies, and in their latest incarnation they were pals on-screen as well, spending their cartoon hour in friendly competition, solving mysteries and helping others.

The main premise is simple: Tom Strong was born on a mystical island by means of a somewhat cold and heartless experiment conducted by his dad.
Although he is 99 years old, Tom is still as energetic and powerful as ever -- and he is still having adventures, both in Millennium City as well as everywhere else in the world.
Tom Strong is an adventurous, plot-driven book, containing simple, positive themes, which are demonstrated by the villains Stong faces or by the situations in which Strong finds himself embroiled.

Tom Strong - PopMatters Comic Book Review
Forged in science and nature, Tom is obligated to return to his mother and father's Western world and become the force for Reason and Food that he was invariably designed to be.
For this reason, Tom Strong comes built with its own mythology: the Island of Attabar Teru, Tom's wife Dhuala, his daughter Tesla, their adoptive home of Metropolis-meets-Brazil Millennium City, his genius ape sidekick King Solomon, his steam-robot servant Pneuman, and his Rogue's Gallery consisting of Paul Saveen, the Modular Man, and the Pangean.
Tom Strong, the product of the lost pulp/serial heroes and modernity's yen for realism, could just be the right man for the job.

Dhalua dolls, spark-spitting Tom Strong ray-guns and, most sought-after of all, miniature clockwork replicas of the adventurer's mechanical companion Pneuman filled the nation's toy shops, while its magazine racks bulged with first with pulp magazines, then later comic books, in which were detailed adventures of Strong and his friends, both genuine and fictional.

TOM STRONG is a pulpy, good-hearted homage to the comic book forbears of those first superheroes, Superman and Batman, with Doc Savage probably the prime model among them.
Strong is broad-shouldered, broad-jawed and possessed of a never-wavering confident stare.
So, while TOM STRONG may be a fun read, and a fine homage to those pulpy heroes of old, much like potato chips, it leaves you feeling hungry once you're finished.

Tom Strong Book 2 - Alan Moore, Chris Sprouse, Alan Gordon - Graphic novel review
If, like us, the main thing that bugged you about the first collected Tom Strong book was the supposed comedic support offered by the bickering between Strong's robotic manservant and hyper-intelligent gorilla side-kick, you'll be pleased to hear they take a backseat in this second collection.
Both Tom Strange (from Terra Obscura) and Johnny Future (the father of Jonni Future from Tom Strong's Terrific Tales) appear here, ready and waiting for their further adventures to be expanded upon.
It's female characters help enormously to ground Tom's macho elements, and the reduction in importance of those cheesey side-kicks has, at least in our opinion, pulled this series from the mire.

 A letter to Tom Strong
Story is always a complex interface of perception and "fact." When I tell my story to an intimate other, my perception of my experience may of course conflict with theirs in problematic ways.
Whereas when a client tells me the story of an event (as Tom Flynn told you about the massacre), I usually have no concern whatsoever with how their perception might differ from another person's.
Even if their story is about their relationship with me, and seems (in my view) to be distorting the "facts," I have no difficulty in engaging in a dialogue that is curious and compassionate.
