Tommy is told to forget what he saw and heard, and as a result becomes deaf, dumb, and blind.
Unlike other films of rock operas (such as Pink Floyd's The Wall) the album is not dubbed over the film; the different actors sing the songs instead of The Who.
For the most part the original ideas of Tommy's unique perception (being that Tommy can experience the world in a spiritual manner that average humans cannot with all of their senses being assaulted by other sensations) are only hinted at in the film version.

Tommy is one of those films I can watch again and again.
