Trombonist Thomas "Tommy" Dorsey was born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania on November 19, 1905.
His career closely followed that of brother Jimmy; by 1930 he was one of the most successful free-lance radio and recording artists on trombone, recognized both for his exceptional tone and legato style on ballads and for his fine solos on faster tempi.
Tommy and Jimmy formed an orchestra together in the early 1930s known as "The Dorsey Brothers Orchestra," and included Glenn Miller, Ray McKinley and Bob Crosby.

I do also wonder the same thing at times, with Tommy sticking that flower in Vic's ear (or whatever that was), but it's just all in fun and games I'd say.
Besides Tommy and I, there are two other guys in our company that have worked on every episode of EP and JD--Tavis Dunn, our art director and Aaron Mooney, our supervising producer in post--without Aaron and Tavis, Tommy and I would look like bums.
I mean they do run by outtakes after the show, like when Tommy tried like hell to make a behind the head shot in the gym.

I hate the fact that tommy was brought into Tapeworm and then sidelined, regardless of stolen riffs (we'll never know the truth their), as the line-up of Trent, Tommy, Maynard and others would just about have been one of the best 'Supergroups' of all time.

Robert (Bob) Falconer MacNally II, a former president and chairman of Tommy Armour Golf whose industry innovations and business sense had a significant impact on the golf industry, died Dec. 30 of a stroke in Hinsdale, Ill. He was 71.
In 1985, MacNally changed the name of PGA Victor to Tommy Armour Golf, to honor the golf legend and revered golf instructor.

It is rumored that he started at Victor in 1922 as an accountant but that has not been verified.
The earliest mention of him in the Victor (now BMG) ledgers from 1929-on is the McKinney's Cotton Pickers session on Dec. 17, 1930.
Eli was also dickering with MGM to start a new label- Tommy Dorsey's Victor contract was up for renewal and it seemed as though a deal might be made until wartime shortages made MGM's management so nervous the plan was shelved.
