The polychaete Tomopteris is one of the only marine creatures that makes yellow luminescence.
When disturbed, a flurry of glowing sparks will erupt from the parapodia (the paddle-like structures).
Eggs, visible in this photo, are also released into the water.

The lining membrane is ciliated in Aphrodita, Glycera, Polycirrus, Tomopteris, and Terebella; and it is curious that in these the blood-vessels proper are absent, with the exception of the first and last.
In Tomopteris their ciliary current carries spermatozoa inwards, and the same may occur in other forms.
The borers in shell, limestone, coral, and Melobesia, seem cosmopolitan, and the swimming Tomopteris is likewise widely distributed.

It has, however, been alleged that this cavity is formed by a pair of mesoblastic somites (N. Kleinenberg), in which case there is more reason for favouring the view that would assign an equality between the prostomium and the (in that case) other segments of the body.
The peculiar prostomium of Tomopteris is described below.
The body wall of the Chaetopoda consists of a " dermo-muscular " tube which is separated from the gut by the coelom and its peritoneal walls, except in most leeches.

These data were related with the large-scale patterns of zooplankton biomass and the hydrographic structure and general circulation of the survey region.
Plotohelmis capitata, Tomopteris euchaeta, and Alciopina parasitica showed a widespread distribution and moderate abundance, but they have not been recorded or are scarce in other regions of the Pacific.
Finally, Travisiopsis dubia could be substituting to Travisiopsis lobifera that has been recorded as the most abundant and the most widespread species in the North American waters, but it was not found in the studied samples.

Collection bins on the JSL came up with a planktonic polychaete worm named Tomopteris helgolandica, several ctenophores (comb jellies) called Beroe cucumis and Bolinopsis infundibulum and euphausiids (= krill) named Meganyctiphanes norvegica.
The euphausiids were collected for use in respiration and excretion measurements with the micro-optode instrument.

ISBC - International Society for Bioluminescence and Chemiluminescence
Syllid worms (fireworms) come to the surface in shallow waters for a luminous mating display, whose timing is linked to the phase of the moon.
They have a greenish light, while the pelagic worm Tomopteris is very unusual in producing yellow light (Table 1).
Scale worms when attacked can shed their scales, which then flash independently.
