 Blue Blood Boards - Any tonsilectomy advice for me?
I almost had to have mine out, but then I cut down on the cocaine and made sure to drink warm water with honey in it before going to bed on nights I had a lot.
They tell you to stay away from ice cream and other dairy as they do something to the mucus you need to heal...I dont remember exactly.
Can't say I have much advice on only that I hope it goes as smooth as possible with the least amount of pain.

My daughter had her tonsilectomy and to much of our surprise, her psoriasis had all ready started to clear up just a couple hours after her surgery.
We were so very excited and optomistic but now 3 days after surgery she has a few new spots on her.

My 9 year old is a-symptomatic but continues to test positive.
My question is should I be concerned about the health of my two younger children who so far remain healthy, and would a tonsilectomy resolve the problem of continual strep infections?
The two younger children seem either to be genetically less likely to get strep or have good luck (perhaps a combination of both).

Adverse reactions to anesthesia occur in only one out of 10,000 tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies.
On the plus side, today tonsilectomy is usually an outpatient procedure although it still must be done in the hospital under general anesthesia.
Even better, the surgery should put an end to the problems you've been experiencing.

The answer to your questions may have already been posted.
I have long believed that the concept of a tonsilectomy and or adnoidectomy was sincerely flawed and that there were many other treatments that should be explored (besides antibiotics) befor proceding, if it should be done at all.
Since this I have learned that I have a long family history of severe allergies, and am trying to convince my doctor to get allergy shots.

It's REALLY hard and painful for me to swallow, and I'm a little worried that I have tonsilitis.
I know you need to have many bouts of tonsilitis before needing a tonsilectomy, but I'm just curious.
