With the arrival of bassist Tony Choy, the band began recording their first demos, which, for the most part, contained the prevalent death metal/thrash tendencies typical of the Florida scene.
Singer Tony Teengarden (who had contributed the extreme vocals on the album) was brought on board for a European tour with Pestilence, but this was cut short when the latter broke up.
On September 6th 2006, Blabbermouth reported that Cynic would be making a comeback in the spring/summer of 2007, beginning with possible U.S. warm-up performances including the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore and culminating in a number of festival appearances across Europe.

New bassist Tony Choy is a master of the bass; he adds a whole new layer to the band's sound.
Choy provides down-tuned funk slapping, blindingly fast picking among other things that increase the richness of Atheist.
This is because of the whole slapping bass that Choy brings to the table from time to time, especially on a track like "Brains" - a very progressive song.

Choy (who replaced the late Roger Patterson) and Flynn are not just the rhythm section, the usual bassist/drummer co operation in order to keep the tempo for the guitar to play.
Choy was not an ordinary bass player to fill the place of Patterson but had played in Cynic, another band in the vein of Atheist and although most of the songs were already co written with Roger before his death, he also contributed his own parts and did a splendid job.
The rhythm section can hardly be described like that but a more suitable description would be that it plays at the same level with the guitar and voice, drums and bass have their own fields of creativity and area of development.

This was always one of the foremost elements of Atheist’s sound, and although always present on their two prior albums, I always thought it was a little drowned out by the guitars.
On ‘Elements’, Atheist were able to solve this problem after finding themselves a new bassist in the form of a very capable Tony Choy, who had previously played with Cynic and Pestilence, to replace Roger Patterson whose untimely death had left Atheist without a bassist.
Choy’s ability on bass is phenomenal and is clearly manifest on this album; smacking the nail right on the head with his flawless performances on such tracks as ‘Green’, ‘Water’ and the album’s title track.

If Tony gets what he wants - and Tony usually gets what he wants - Malaysia Airlines will get back all the rural routes whether it likes it or not (and the national carrier’s Business Turnaround Plan is probably screwed!).
Looking from a company point of view, most of the routes are not profitable and since MAS has Fireflz, it is a good enough reason to give it back to them, while FAX concentrate on more profitable routes.
