Jean "Toots" Thielemans (born Brussels, April 29, 1922) is a Belgian jazz artist well known for his guitar, harmonica play and also for his highly accomplished professional whistling.
So, to these ends Thielemans was perhaps the "ultimate precursor" to the many commercially successful artists that followed him employing the guitar/harmonica combo including John Lennon and Bob Dylan even though their respective musical fields and styles within music itself couldn't have been more different or more varied.
A jazz standard by Toots Thielemans is "Bluesette" where he used whistling and guitar in unison.
