 Thread Mode Considered Harmful
The problem with threading is mainly it's ability to WarpTheThread beyond the original topic.
One of the things that one may find encouraging about the Wiki is it's ability to both to have thread and a linear development of the topic.
If the readers could then filter out the Threaded pages in the RecentChanges list, they would have a good idea of where the Wiki pages as a whole were heading.

Tilted Mill Community - Do you mind thread hijacking or does it drive you nuts
Thread hijacking is when we start talking about "A" and someone changes it to "B" Then it Goes on to "C" and so on so by time you get to the second page the topic has changed compleatly and has nothing to do with the original thread.
A thread in an Off-Topic part of a forum is just a thread that has nothing to do with the game and we can talk about anything we want.
Son of Moose, just to hi-jack this thread - which incedentally if the thread is of an informative nature, I do object to it being hi-jacked onto an unrelated topic to be honest.

RetouchPRO - Question: What is "Thread hijacking"?
Thread hijacking is a term I just found for an old problem: radical departure from the topic of a thread.
But, if the thread is titled for one topic and changes a few posts in, chances are only a very few people are ever going to see it, however marvelous and useful it ends up being.
Also, it isn't fair to the originator of the thread, since many are loath to interupt an ongoing conversation, even if it's just to return to the title topic.

Rotten Tomatoes Forums - FYI - Hijacking of threads is a bannable offense
My main issue is with people who flood a thread with unrelated posts and pictures that do not contribute nor discuss the topic at hand.
but if you don't express your viewpoint and simply try to disrupt other people's abilities to use the forum or follow a chain of topic on a thread, then that is where things start to get bannable.
I was asked to clarify what "Thread Hijacking" means.

Thread Hijacking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thread hijacking is the act of taking a forum discussion thread wildly off topic by discussing a subject entirely unrelated to the subject at hand.
While this can be an intentional act of trolling, it is often accidental - caused by other participants in the discussion responding to a throwaway remark, taking the thread off at a tangent to the original subject matter.
The results, whilst often humourous, often extract a feeling of resentment from the author of the post.

On-topic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A contribution may be off-topic with regard to a thread/page/etc., or with regard to the whole site/newsgroup/etc., which is often established for dealing with specific topics.
Being on-topic is not generally required to be indicated, but in some groups on-topic discussion is so rare that the header is marked accordingly.
A contribution is on-topic if it is within the bounds of the current discussion, article, etc. The term is normally used in the context of mailing lists, discussion groups, bulletin boards, newsgroups, and wikis.
