		This Cheboygan County town was founded in 1881 by executives of the Michigan Central Railroad, who wanted a resort built on Mullett Lake during the lumber era.
		Pike built a hotel here that year and helped platt the village, naming it after Potawattomi Chief Topinabee, or: "Great Bear Heart," who signed a treaty giving white men the site of Fort Dearborn, which is now Chicago.
