The results of Albanian expulsion from Toplica (Prokuplje, Kurshumli, Leskovc,Nis and Vranja) in 1878 and the progress of its colonization in the closing decade of the 19th century persuaded the rulers in Belgrade and those of Cetinje in 1912 to revive that policy with optimism.

The investigative judge identified the victims on the basis of the description and inspection of the bodies conducted by a team of pathologists from the Pathology Department of the Health Center in Vranje, with the assistance of some persons who recognized the belongings or clothes found on the bodies.

Prokuplje, July 19, 2001 (Beta) - Former head of the District prison in Prokuplje Aleksandar Djordjevic stated today that the Bytyqi brothers had been treated "according to the law" and that they "were given conditional discharge and after that escorted by the Serbian police".
- Former police chief of the Toplica county Milisav Vucicevic announced that the police took over the Bytyqi brothers - said Djordjevic.
As Dusan Mihajlovic, Serbian Interior Minister assured us, nothing is known about the destiny of the Albanians since they were dismissed from prison on July 8, 1999.

Relatives of Shefki Latifi reportedly immediately drove to Priština and asked for an autopsy to be carried out by forensic experts at Priština hospital.
According to one report, their request was refused, apparently on the grounds that Podujevo lies within the territory of Toplica district (which has its seat in the town of Prokuplje) and that therefore it was the responsibility of the investigating judge in Prokuplje to order an autopsy to be carried out.
He reportedly told the newspaper that preliminary observations did not indicate that Shefki Latifi had died as a result of violence.
