Topography - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) topographical survey maps included contour representation of relief, and so maps that show relief, especially with exact representation of elevation, came to be called topographic maps (or "topo" maps) in the United States, and the usage has spread internationally.
Contour plowing is an established practice of enabling sustainable agriculture on sloping land, and is the practice of plowing along topographic lines.
Topography is critical militarily because it determines the ability of armed forces to take and hold areas, and to move troops and material into and through areas.

An instrument for topographical measurement of aspheric specular surfaces as described in claim 2 wherein the aspheric specular surface is the concave or the convex surface of a contact lens.
An instrument for topographical measurement of aspheric specular surfaces as described in claim 2 wherein the aspheric specular surface is the concave or convex surface of a mold for a plastic lens.

 LaserMyEye :: Encyclopedia :: Topographer
Diagnostic scanning machine which maps the surface of the cornea by measuring its elevation at various points.
Topographers are very important in laser eye surgery, both for patient screening before surgery (to detect abnormalities such as keratoconus, which is a contraindication for laser eye surgery) and for evaluating results after surgery.
Topography should be the first test of choice to attempt to identify the cause of vision defects reported by patients for which no cause can be found in slit-lamp examination or refraction.

So too to understand Michael Joyce -- another breather in that being-sigh of reception from Olson, the archeologist of morning -- when he speaks about the contour is to undertake, not to be handed a cute package.
And yet, one is convinced -- haunted perhaps -- this is indeed the heart of the matter: the topographic after-image in the face of the constructive act formed of so many individual bits of interactive doing.
Those of us who write interactive literature believe, down to our very bones, that a literary hypertext is what it is through the interactive choices of the reader; if a few simple sentences strung end to end would serve just as well then we would put those into play instead.

She anticipates a 90% success rate by modifying the fitting guide according to baseline topographic findings and new indices she and her colleagues can generate from topography files.
The Keratron topographer from EyeQuip determines how much corneal tissue must be displaced and what shape the lens should be to achieve the desired Rx.

Why You Need Corneal Topography,  And How to  Make Sense of It
When topographers first became available commercially, manufacturers geared their software toward for ophthalmologists and built nomograms for RK into their software.
Over the past few years, topographer makers have developed contact lens-fitting software that’s more oriented to the way optometrists think and work.
Topographers, of course, are much smaller than they used to be.

Optometric Management: Are you ready for corneal topography?
If you don't already have a corneal topographer in your practice, now may be a good time to take a look at what this technology can do for you.
The topographer helps identify corneal ectasia and irregular corneas as well as keratoconus; and it will show corneal warpage or distortion from contact lens wear, which may affect the manifest refraction.
A corneal topographer is a powerful machine that can add value to your practice in terms of revenue generated as well as patient confidence.

Charles Emory Morrison, 77, a retired topographer with the U.S. Geological Survey, died Nov. 27 at Fairfax Inova Hospital of complications from a heart attack 10 days earlier.
The early part of his Geological Survey career included field surveys in many of the states east of the Mississippi River, with assignments in the north during the summer and in the south during the winter.
He also was an active member of USGS Topographic Retirees, a nationwide organization of former members of the service's mapping division.

As the Topographer's requirements for geographical information became more sophisticated, the report form was altered to request additional data.
The form used in reporting on a prospective post office requested information about the number of families or the number of people that would be served by the post office.

Validation of a combined corneal topographer and aberrometer based on Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensing
A potential method for overcoming the limitations of Placido disk topographers is to re-engineer the SH aberrometer as a corneal topographer.
The topographical profile of the cornea surface was rendered by summing the reflective aberrations and measured corneal radius.
As a final validation step, topographic maps of the five symmetric model corneas were converted into refractive aberration maps and compared to theory as well as whole-eye SH measurements obtained on the same corneas.

Seibel Vision Surgery: Zeiss Atlas Corneal Topography Eye Vision Topographer LASIK California CA
The Atlas 995 corneal topographer consists of a computer linked to a lighted bowl that contains a pattern of rings.
During a diagnostic test, you would sit in front of the bowl with your head pressed against a bar while a series of data points are generated.
Computer software digitizes these data points to produce a printout of the corneal shape, using different colors to identify different elevations, much like a topographic map of the earth displays changes in the land surface.
