Tor Books is offering Robert Jordan fans the opportunity to test their knowledge of The Wheel of Time™ universe with the launch of the KNIFE OF DREAMS Internet Hunt Contest* on August 2, 2005.
What's interesting about this release is that RJ will probably finish the book in the Spring of 2005, but will request that Tor Books do a full editorial cycle on the book before releasing it.
In working on accuracy for the illustrations in the upcoming "New Spring" comic book (Dabel Brothers, to be released this year), the question of the Amyrlin's stole came up.

James Minz has been an Assistant Editor for Tom Doherty Associates, LLC (Tor & Forge Books) since September 1997, working on solo editorial projects and functioning as the assistant to Senior Editor David G. Hartwell and a number of Consulting Editors, including Algis Budrys, Debbie Notkin, Delia Sherman, Brian Thomsen and Terri Windling.
Wandering Stars has just been reprinted in the U. Dann also edits the multi-volume Magic Tales series with Gardner Dozois, the White Wolf Rediscovery series with Pamela Sargent and George Zebrowski, and is a consulting editor for TOR Books.
His first book was The Vicar of Morbing Vyle, a cult classic of comic macabre fantasy.

Tor Editor (and veteran editor of everything from Edwardian porn to comics) Teresa Nielsen Hayden has a marvellous blog, and may well be persuaded to share her wisdom in these matters.
And Sandman won this year as "foreigner monthly comic book" since it has been republished monthly again for a great number of new readers who had never heard of it the first time around, or were just too young to pick it up.
The different stories are comical and tragic, with a vein of subtle, dark humour building as the stories progress.

Alley Oop was never a big comic book star, but he's maintained a presence in that medium.
He's far from the only one, of course — Rocky Stoneaxe, Tor, B.C. and Anthro are just a few of the other representatives of that ethnicity who have cavorted through the medium over the years — but he's the only one to travel in time on a regular basis.
But the comic strip made so big a hit with fans, that comics' first fan award was named after it.

He was book reviewer for Galaxy, Analog and New Destinies magazines for nearly a decade, and currently writes occasional book reviews and a regular Op-Ed column, "Future Tense," for The Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper.

Mightor and Tor were played by different voice actors, Paul Stewart (Elevator Man in DePatie-Freleng's Super Six) as the former and Bobby Diamond (more a face actor than a voice man) as the latter.

Comic book superhero-inspired movies are thus doing pretty well.
The original Conan movie spawned a horrifying succession of bad movies such as the Deathstalker series, "Ironmaster", "Warrior Queen", "Warrior Princess", "Tor, Hunter from the Future", and many others which though cheap to make were almost complete duds at the box office.
But "The Scorpion King" may be the vindication the film industry is seeking for this kind of film.
