Planescape: Torment for PC Review - PC Planescape: Torment Review
Torment abandons the high-fantasy styling of most RPGs and instead uses the Planescape license's unique interpretation of familiar fantasy archetypes, which lends the game a wholly original appearance that defies expectations for fantasy and science fiction artwork.
Torment's scenery is more intricately detailed than the scenery in Baldur's Gate because of the close perspective, and much like its characters, the scenery looks good and looks different from what you're used to.
Torment's dialogue often lets you choose to make promises, bluff, or play dumb; the game lets you perceive small details if your character is intelligent, understand philosophical implications if he's wise, and intimidate or charm if he's strong or charismatic.

Planescape: Torment differs from similar CRPGs like those in the Baldur's Gate series by placing an emphasis on conversation and storyline, as opposed to an emphasis on combat.
Planescape: Torment is notable for the quantity of dialogue (in text form) which it contains.

And the smoke of their torment goes up to ages of ages, and they have no respite day and night who do homage to the beast and to its image, and if any one receive the mark of its name.

The plot depth is quite surprising as well as the twists and turns as taken the Nameless One through his quest to discover who, what and why he is. There is a lot of reading to do and it can be tempting to glaze over the text to get back into the game.

However, the back of the Torment wrappers say that the odds of getting a premium cards are 1:70 cards.
The fact that there are less cards in Torment doesn't matter - the ratio of foils : non-foils is what WotC decides it to be; 1 : 70 means there are relatively more foils in this set than there were in 1 : 100 sets.
Torment seems back to normal (although I've only opened 1 box, 7 foils as was the norm pre-Oddy.) That's not enough to base any estimate on though.

Planescape Torment is more dynamic and less static than Silent Hill because of its greater number of goals and quests, and the fact that only some of them are compulsory, as well as due to the complexity of the teams' inventory, mutating avatars and all the possible dialogue options.

Nowhere in Scripture is everlasting torment set forth as the wages of sin.
Had the penalty for sin been "everlasting torment", he, in paying our penalty, would have been compelled to suffer whatever the sinners were condemned to suffer as sin's penalty.
Hence if there was no other evidence on the subject, this alone would prove that "The wages of sin is death" and not everlasting torment.

I have no idea why Mara is tormented, and "Dreams Like Mine," a 13 song CD of ambient electronica, offers no clues.
Mara's Torment has a very minimal sound - each song seems woven from only two or three instruments, tones or rhythms - yet, each song is both unique and enchanting.
Ric MacLean, the one man mastermind behind Mara's Torment, intelligently and artistically mixes disparate and haunting themes - mysterious alien moans, terrestrial bells, Asian scales, tribal rhythms, bubbling synths - yielding a truly beautiful, lush and comforting soundscape.

The new title, which would eventually become Torment, was to be based on the Planescape license, which the company had acquired shortly after they grabbed the rights to the Forgotten Realms world.
The real reason I thought that no one would ever be able to truly recreate the Planescape universe was the sheer number of different models that they would have to create to show off all the different types of beings you would be able to interact with.
While Torment doesn't have them all, they do have more than enough to make you feel like you're at the crossroads of the universe.
