The Ramapo River, its tributaries and the underlying Federally designated Sole Source Aquifer for the Interstate Ramapo River Basin are the prime source of drinking water for 2 million residents of Rockland County and Northern New Jersey.
Torne Brook which flows through the center of the valley is one of the few native brook trout streams in the entire region.
Torne Valley and High Mountain across the Thruway from the Valley are needed to preserve this green ward.

The Torne River (Finnish: Tornionjoki, Swedish: Torne älv, Torneälven, Northern Sami: Duortneseatnu, Meankieli: Tornionväyla), is a river in northern Sweden and Finland.
It is the largest river in Norrbotten both by length and by watershed area.
In the Treaty of Fredrikshamn in 1809, when Sweden lost the areas which constitute present-day Finland to Imperial Russia, the river was together with Muonio River and Könkämä River chosen as border between Sweden and the new Russian Grand Duchy of Finland, thus splitting the provinces of Laponia and Västerbotten.

Below Tahkojaure the river gets narrower as it flows through a flat landscape surrounded by mountain birches and waist high shrubs.
The dense vegetation surrounding the lower parts of the river makes it somewhat difficult to follow, but it’s worth it since the fishing is great.

fished it on the monday and there was still a lot of rods to go with my three stationed across 2 drains (yes, you can fish 2 rivers and sit in the middle!).
Posted - 21 March 2006 : 6:41:33 PM three rivers are where they hold the piking world champion matches have done for a few year now i only live 10 to 15 mins away but have never fished it as it gets busy.
not sure about the river being open this season along the road, i think i'll give the rivers a rest, it's something i'm used to round closed season so not bothered.

This temporary structure, the Ice Chapel, will gradually melt away during April and May, and the water will eventually return to the Torne River, thereby completing the cycle.
The life span of this chapel is but a blinking of an eye in comparison with the old Jukkasjärvi church which was built over 300 years ago, in 1607.
