The city of Torun (German Thorn, Latin Thorunensis, Polish Toruń) is one of two capitals (with Bydgoszcz) of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region in central Poland, on the Vistula River.
Torun was the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus (1473).
Torun (at that time called Thorn, and in the Culmer Land region of Prussia), was an important medieval trade center, and part of the Hanseatic League.

There are trams in Torun (but they don’t run to the train station), however, I mainly stayed around the old town area and didn’t need to use them.
Torun is definitely a walking town, if you stay to the main areas.
They began making it in Torun around the 1200’s, just about when the town was founded.

I love Torun, I was born in a nearby town of Chelmno (also very beautiful) and visited Torun several times a year.
The only disadvantage there is that the train station is located far from the centre- but still, Torun is not a really big city so if you're lucky you'll get to the Old Town in ten minutes.
Torun is a good place to stop over on your way from Warsaw to another Polish city located in northern Poland- a good thing to do is to leave your luggage at the station.
