While the Orange Order are split over whether to recognise the Parades Commission and whether to directly negotiate with residents they are not split over the right to march.
The Orange Order has suffered a series of defeats in their efforts to force parades along disputed routes but this does not mean that Protestants no longer support their right to march or that working class Protestants now sympathise with the position of the residents committees.
Insofar as the failure of the Orange Order to get their way at Drumcree and other areas can be described as a victory it is a victory for nationalism, for one form of sectarianism over another, and not a victory for the working class.

Two years ago, there was rioting by nationalists when the Tour of the North parade was allowed to pass along streets perceived to be Roman Catholic.
Nelson McCausland, a UUP councillor and Orange Order spokesman, said: "The message that's being sent out is that violence and the threat of violence brings results." Anthony Barnes, leader of the nationalist Community Response Against Sectarianism, said that "tensions were running very high" and the decision should have been made earlier.

North Belfast is an interface area with more flashpoints than in the west or east or south.
Objections were raised to the parade from within the nationalist community, who claimed it caused some disruption to their daily life.

On Friday 17th of June the Annual “Tour of the NorthOrange Order parade took place in North Belfast.
After this the missiles rained down on the leading Orange Order members at the front of the parade and the accompanying band, some of which included bottles, bricks, a knife, unopened cans of beer, golf balls, one of which struck another bass drummer just above the eye.
A total of six members of the lead band were injured by objects thrown from the Republican mob with also a substantial amount of members of the Orange Order, members from the other two bands and supporters also stuck by items thrown.
