		After you defeat those two, you'll then be able to make your way to Tourian, where you'll get a chance to say "hi" to the life-draining Metroids that patrol the area.
		The artistic design in Metroid is also something worth noting, since much attention was given the overall atmosphere of each major section in the game.
		Norfair is my favorite section to look at because the environments of that area successfully convey the idea that it's really hot where Samus is. I guess it's the way ledges and ceilings have little crystal spheres hanging from them-- as if parts of the structure are slowly beginning to melt.

		I know you can get up to Tourian without the Ice Beam, but I don't think you can get through Tourian without it.

		It's entirely posisble to skip both of the bosses in Metroid and head straight for Tourian (once you have collected at least the bombs, ice beam and preferrably a fair few missile packs and a couple of e-tanks).
		Go to the room beside the statues and lure the Reo into the statue room by letting it follow you through the open door.
		Now, if you don't have the Hi-Jump boots, you need to Bomb Boost Jump up and out of the quicksand and land on top of the frozen Reo.
