Per usual for such brain-beating fare, Tourniquet's Microscopic View of a Telescopic Realm (the band's first album in nearly eight years) polarizes to the fullest extent both within the genre and the context of the album itself.
Snake-like, their songs twist and turn every which way, but the structures flow rather ebulliently, riffs racing and punishing at one moment, twinkly quasi-fusion guitars floating down from the ether the other moment.
Also, unlike such fare, Tourniquet can capably groove at slower tempos, as they do on "Caixa de Raiva" and "Servant of the Bones." However, one caveat emptor is the decidedly Christian-themed lyrics, which often border on preachy cheez, especially during the laughable a cappella intro to "The Tomb of Gilgamesh."

Longer tourniquet times are certainly possible without injury, but the longer the tourniquet is left in place, the more likely it is that hypoxic muscle injury will occur.
For that reason, it is important to understand that application of a tourniquet is undertaken only for life-saving reasons, in which the possible loss of a limb is minor in comparison to the alternative (loss of life).
After applying a tourniquet, place a "T" on the victim's forehead, to indicate that he or she has a tourniquet in place.

 Tourniquet Overview
A tourniquet can be defined as a constricting or compressing device used to control venous and arterial circulation to an extremity for a period of time.
In most modern electronic tourniquet systems, the internal electrical pump, pressure display, and pressure regulator are combined in a single instrument in which a microprocessor continuously monitors and compensates for changing levels of pressure in the cuff bladder.
While some tourniquet systems may provide much in the way of sophisticated safety monitoring and interlocks, perioperative personnel should be aware of potentially hazardous conditions and monitor the tourniquet system during the time the cuff is applied to the patient.

First off, for those not familiar with Tourniquet, they are a Christian heavy metal band that has been spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to this generation with their unique sound since the early 90's.
All of the songs on here are of most excellent quality in each of the categories that they fit in, from the soft ballad and delicate acoustic arrangements, to the very loud and sometimes abrasive metal tuneage that they are well know for.
Tourniquet has shown on this CD that they can be diverse and still do it with class and style — in my opinion, probably more so than any other band.

In cases of a bleeding emergency, a tourniquet is used to stop the flow of blood if other means, e.g., the application of a pressure bandage to the wound, are not effective.
In arterial hemorrhage (bright red blood spurting out in jets) the tourniquet is applied above the wound, i.e., between the wound and the heart.
In hemorrhage from a vein (an even flow of dark red blood) the tourniquet is applied below the wound, i.e., away from the heart.

The relationship between tourniquet pressure and underlying soft-tissue pressure - Wheeless' Textbook of Orthopaedics
It was found that the tissue pressure was consistently lower than the tourniquet pressure and that the percentage of tourniquet pressure reflected in the underlying tissue varied inversely with the circumference of the thigh.
Clinical relevance: the use of a pneumatic tourniquet is potentially associated with injury to underlying muscles, vessels, and nerves if excessive pressure occurs beneath the tourniquet.
In order to minimize the risk of soft-tissue injury, the lowest tourniquet pressure that maintains a bloodless field should be used.
