 Ted Kirkpatrick (Tourniquet) Interview
Tourniquet was formed in Los Angeles in 1990.
I recently spoke with band’s founder and primary songwriter, Ted Kirkpatrick.
The guitar sound is definitely fuller and heavier, and it’s got all the twists and turns that people would expect from Tourniquet.

The band's lead singer Amy Lee has insisted the band is not Christian and does not intend to send a Christian message, even though she is in fact a Christian herself.

 My Tourniquet Pages
To be honest Tourniquet are so talented that it would be hard to imagine them producing a bad piece of music, and though this is quite a stand alone album in terms of previous style, it works and the immense talent and originality of the band shines through every song.
Tourniquet have always been a technical classically influenced band, but on this album the quality of the playing is truly awesome.
Without a doubt Tourniquet are the most challenging and innovative metal band I have ever had the pleasure to stumble across.

My Last Breath Forums -> Favourite Evanescence Song?
Tourniquet is a great rock song, but it's lyrics are weaker than Imaginary's, in my opinion.
Before I heard that song, being at school or any crowded place (town etc.), I would just want to be in a field in the middle of no-where with no-one around.
Not only is just having that song highly disrespectful to the band and specifically Ms.Lee, but it's disrespectful to all the fans who do respect Amy's and the band's wishes.

Bible belters change their tune - TruthBook
Evanescence, for example, initially agreed to have its "Fallen" album in Christian outlets, which seemed consistent with liner notes where one member thanks Jesus, and a song, "Tourniquet," on the album that refers to Christ.
Pillar lead singer Rob Beckley says the band won't turn its back on the Christian community, which was the first to take a chance on them.
The band, formed more than a decade ago, released their first album with Atlantic Records in 1999 and has since sold 6 million albums.

 Evanescence
Although the band has now distanced themselves from this categorization, their first major-label album release, Fallen, which debuted in 2003, contained songs such as "Tourniquet," which addressed religious themes.
After writing songs together and achieving popularity with a song called "Understanding," which had success on local music charts, the two began to hunt for other musicians in order to be able to put on a live performance.
The group was founded by Amy Lee, the vocalist, and Ben Moody who was the original lead guitarist but left the band in October 2003.

Evanescence: Fallen - PopMatters Music Review
Though they claim to be a secular band, Evanescence doesn't shy away from topics of the spiritual variety, and the best example is "Tourniquet", a song originally performed by Christian metallers Soul Embraced, which effectively combines a more classic metal sound with lyrics that are surprisingly even-handed.
Though the new album, Fallen, is basically as unoriginal and dumb as everything else in its genre, it has a small handful of transcendent moments, but a complete lack of musical adventurousness has the band mucking around either in stultifying nu-metal riffage, pretentious high school journal caterwauling, or even worse, both.
Though most people who buy this album are doing so based on hearing only "Bring Me Back to Life", the real surprise, and biggest disappointment, upon hearing Fallen is the abundance of weepy, syrupy, tinkly piano ballads which bog down the album so much, it's unbearable.

Album Reviews: Comment on Evanescence - Fallen
Doug said 'Tourniquet' and 'Imaginary' which are both songs on the album.
There is one song where the singer talks about God very briefly, but overall the lyrics of this album are very down, depressing, and without the light that I would expect a Christian to show.
I checked out the guitar tabs on the album, and the whole thing consists of 3 repetitions of the same chord at a slow pace, then changes the chord and repeat.

 ROCK N ROLL EXPERIENCE - Marilyn Manson/SLUNT 11/20/2004
The set was almost identical to every show, the band opened with "Love Song", & did a meddly of their hits & concert standards such as "Tainted Love", "Sweet Dreams", "Beautiful People", & during "Tourniquet" Manson walked around on stilts while messing around with Mark & Tim.
New Guitarist Mark Chaussee wore a mix of Zim Zum & John 5 attire/make-up & I've read reviews that said he screws up alot...what he does is, he plays the songs his own way & some parts are different, for the most part, Mark did a good job & gives it his all.
Fear not though, Tim Skold wore an outfit that was very Twiggy-ish & his legs were less than perfect for his outfit....this is Rock N Roll & the music is what matters, so I'll let this subject rest lol.
