		The Town of Hempstead is one of the three towns (otherwise known as civil townships) in Nassau County, New York, United States.
		Hempstead is the most populous town in the state and the nation with a population of 755,924 at the 2000 Census (estimated to be 751,276 in 2005).

		During the American Revolution the south part of the Town of Hempstead was primarily Tory while the north part supported the revolution.
