Townline Tunnel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Townline Tunnel, located in Welland, Ontario, Canada, is an underwater tunnel, carrying Highway 58A as well as Canadian National Railway and Penn Central under the Welland Canal.
The Townline Tunnel is a two-cell reinforced concrete tunnel with a rectangular cross-section.
In constrast, the rail lines emerging from the Townline Tunnel travel through a wide, straight corridor across Welland (as seen in the second picture), but the Townline Tunnel has only two lanes for traffic and a widening is deemed costly.

Kings Park Energy, LLC - Ruling
Townline argued that the Applicant had not provided adequate documentation of the turbine emission rates that it used to project ambient air quality impacts and to determine whether the project was subject to the PSD permit program.
Townline argued that the landfill has the potential for affecting local wind patterns, posing an obstruction to the wind when it is from the northwest and thereby causing downwash, and that an increased persistence in some wind directions is likely to increase the predicted 24-hour and annual average concentrations of pollutants.
Townline stated that there are numerous instances in the draft permit where emission limits are specified to apply only when a combustion turbine is operating at 50 to 100 percent, and cited an EPA policy from 1993 as requiring that start-up and shut-down should be accounted for in implementing operating procedures.

Welland, Ontario - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dain City, located in the south of the city where the two channels meet, is separated by the massive approaches to the Townline Tunnel required to provide the low grade for the rail lines that use the tunnel.
Technically, both the east side and Dain City are peninsulas, surrounded by the waters of the old and new channels of the Welland Canal and connected to "solid" ground only by the relatively small plug in the old canal along the Townline Tunnel approaches.
Two of the three tunnels under the canal, Main Street Tunnel and Townline Tunnel, are located in Welland, just east of the main urbanised area.

 The Michigan Line
Under Conrail it was single tracked between CP-West Detroit and CP-Townline (creating the Townline Industrial Track out of the old #2 track), and through most of its rural portions across the gentle hills of Southern Michigan.
At the time of the sale No.2 main was downgraded to the "Townline - Livernois Industrial Track", and only used from Townline to Lonyo Ave., with the rest of it between Lonyo and West Detroit left to deteriorate and rust away.
Freight trains heading eastbound on track #2 at Townline will get a restricting or a stop indication at CP-Townline and need permission from the Livernois Yardmaster to get onto the Townline Industrial (sometimes refered to as simply "The Industrial") and then a route through the yard; "One in the west, one in the south", etc.
