Toyah Willcox was born on 16 May 1958 in Birmingham.
Toyah has had a diverse career which not only includes her 13 Top 40 singles and a No.1 album 'Anthem', but also a variety of acting and presenting roles.
A year later Toyah appeared as Mad in Derek Jarman's Jubilee, Bessie Watty in Cukor's The Corn is Green, and Monkey in Quadrophenia.

When originally released in 1988, on the EG label, 'Prostitute' was something of a shock to most Toyah fans, and a surprise to most of her critics.
A collaboration exclusively by Toyah and Steve Sidelync, it could be described as a "concept" album of sorts, with samples, voice-overs, strange vocals and experimental music all being used to awesome effect.
This was Toyah's first EP since 'Four More From Toyah' in late 1981, and first new recordings since the 'Dreamchild' album eight years previously.

In 1978 she founded the band Toyah, a glam-punk outfit that specialized in anthems to rebellion, urban decay and modern primitivism -- with the occasional love song to creatures from other planets thrown in for variety.
In 1986 Toyah married King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp, with whom she undertook a number of musical collaborations, including the band Sunday All Over the World and an audio presentation of the story The Lady or the Tiger.
