Toyen, who loved art and world travel, was a talented artist and contemplated quitting her job to pursue it, according to Gonski, whose brother was engaged to Toyen.
Toyen herself was active in her synagogue, Bentley's Hillel and Jewish community life, according to Patti Ray, director of Hillel at Loyola.
