 Kunichika
Toyohara Kunichika was born in the Kyobashi district of Tokyo - formerly called Edo.
A contemporary of Kunichika Toyohara wrote about him: "Print designing, theater and drinking were his life and for him that was enough."
In 1867, one year before the collapse of the Shogunate, he received an official commission by the government to contribute to the 1867 World Exhibition in Paris.

Condition: very good; brown spot in right margin and very faint brown spot on elbow; very light metallic transfer stain next to her head; margins intact; mica residue in green background; excellent color; "gauffage" (embossing) of background design in UL panel; very fine carving of hair.

Currently we are working on digitizing the "Last period of Ukiyo-e " of "Kunichika Toyohara (1835-1900)" ; who gained a reputation since the end of Edo period to Meiji period.
His works was world's largest collected by Dr. Naokichi Ohe (the previous president of Kyoto college of Art), and donated to Kyoto university of Art and Design's library.

Marcia Toyohara has discovered a group for ethnic sports that may be able to help.
Marcia Toyohara mentioned her idea of offering to help the U.S. Kendo Federation, whose next championship was going to be in the Bay Area in return for getting some of their people to do support work at an INF event.
One suggestion was to ask Helen Nakano if she would be willing to chair a fundraising committee since she had done such an excellent job in the past.

There is a print with a similar clock illustrated in Amy Newland's monograph on Kunichika 'Time past and present, Images of a forgotten master'[Hotei Publishing 1999] p.107.
The misrepresentation of the numerals is attributed solely to lack of understanding of Roman numbers.

Born in Niigata Prefecture as Hashimoto Tadayoshi, Chikanobu was trained in Kano School painting, and later studied with the Utagawa masters Kuniyoshi and Kunisada, and finally with Toyohara Kunichika.
While his artistic activity began in the Bunkyu era (1861-4) he made his artistic reputation in the 1880’s with triptychs illustrating political events of the Meiji period, depictions of the Imperial family, and customs and manners of a changing Japan; particularly women and children.

Hiroshi Toyohara, retired Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Dr. Robert Casey, and Dr. Bob Greer, Dentist (all three are members of the Clinch River Chapter of Trout Unlimited) recruited other doctors and medical personnel to provide basic medical and dental exams for Kindergarten through Fifth grade students.
Other physicians generously donating their skills and time were Dr. Stewart Jennings and Dr. David Rankin.
Nurses Jennifer and Kindra were loved by all the students
