Toyonaka (豊中市 Toyonaka-shi) is a city located in Osaka, Japan.
A case on a matter between a favorite lady of the retired emperor Emperor Go-Toba and a local jitō was wrongly resolved, and then the former had the Emperor redecide the case in her favor.
Osaka International Airport is partially located in Toyonaka including its terminal, although it is more commonly associated with the city of Itami.

The population of Osaka Prefecture taken during the 2000 National Census is 8,804,806, or about seven percent of the total population of Japan, ranking second after Tokyo Prefecture.
The symbol of Osaka Prefecture, called the sennari byōtan or "thousand gourds," was originally the crest of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the feudal lord of Osaka Castle.
Until the reclamation of the Kansai International Airport island, Osaka was the smallest prefecture by area; it is now merely the second-smallest.

 Passenger: Toshiya Kuge
Toshiya Kuge "wanted to be friends with people" and to study in America, he wrote in an essay for a class he took earlier this year at the University of Utah.
Kuge grew up in Toyonaka City, and graduated in 1999 from Kitano High School, where he was a well-regarded student and goalkeeper on the soccer team.
His memorial service at an Osaka hotel was packed with relatives and friends.

 Shosenji Dojo
In the early 1960's Shimamoto Sensei returned to Osaka to assist his father in the running of the Shosenji Temple that had recently been relocated to the Toyonaka District.
Shortly after his return to Osaka, and with his father's permission, Shimamoto sensei continued his Aikido practice through the establishment of an aikido dojo within the temple grounds.
At the Shosenji Dojo there is an all too rare opportunity to train under the tutelage of a genuine master of aikido as well as to share in the cultural life of a Japanese community, something that short term visitors to the large urban centers would normally find difficult to achieve.
