		Toyota will have a big job ahead of them as when an engine explodes for catastrophic reasons, it becomes a very expensive paperweight that is usually not worth salvaging.
		Engines usually explode in your situation due to lack of oil and I suspect the oil pump or drive rod to the oil pump may have failed.

		Spawning from 2 litres to 3, the M series engine is hailed as one of the most versatile and reliable engines of their time.

		Toyota keeps saying that their oil filters are better but when I cut apart a Toyota filter it has exactly the same back flow valves and bypass valves as all the other name brand oil filters.
		Toyota should fess up and get the word out to the public that they will fix the engine completely when it goes bad and that until then everyone must use synthetic oil, which is not affected by the extreme heat.
		Toyota started this program so they would not be forced to recall some or all of the engines affected by this problem.

		Unless you are doing an absolute original restoration and wanting to keep the correct engine for your vehicle, a swap to a later motor from the local jap-wreckers can be a more cost effective way of upgrading power,efficiency and drive-ability, if that's what you're after.
