		The Tercel was introduced in Japan in 1978, and in the United States in 1980; it was the first front-wheel drive vehicle ever produced by the automaker.
		For the 1990 model year, the Tercel was available as either a three-door hatchback or a two-door coupé, the five-door hatchback and the wagon having been discontinued.
		Toyota Corolla II In Europe and Japan, the Tercel was introduced in 1980; however, only the sedan was known as the "Tercel," while the hatchbacks were known as the Corolla II.
