	Vehicle identification number - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Besides the three letters that are not allowed in the VIN itself (I, O and Q), the letters U and Z and the digit 0 are not used for the year code.
		Note that the year code can be the calendar year in which a vehicle is built, or a model or type year allocated by the manufacturer.
		One easy way to more easily recall each year code is to relate a rhyme or similarity between the actual year and the VIN code.

		Commencing in September 1980, Motor Vehicle Safety Standard regulation FMVSS-115 required a 17-digit VIN (vehicle identification number) on all new vehicles sold in the United States.
		When decoded, the VIN tells the country and year of manufacture; make, model and serial number; assembly plant and even some equipment specifications.
		Note that the sort sequence for characters in the VIN is A to Z, then 1 to 9, and finally 0, with the letters "I", "O" and "Q" not normally used.

		Seems one of my sons has done the research of rear ratio's for me. He has a F150 SuperCrew 4X4 and his rear axle code on the door is "H9".
		This happens to be the same code on my door label.
