In 1204, Tamar helped to found the Empire of Trabizond on the southern shore of the Black Sea (now the Turkish province of Trabzon).
This so-called "empire" was populated mainly by Laz (Chani) Georgian tribes, ruled by refugees from Constantinople.
The first ruler of the Empire of Trabizond Alexius I Comnenus was a grandson of the King of Georgia David the Builder.

My only ally Trabizond is on somewhat bad terms with me and I cannot rely on their aid against the turkish menace.
The orthadox nation of serbia is, unlike Trabizond on fairly good terms +25 and not in any alliances.
This is smart as it means I can fight the Ottomans of 2 fronts (three if Trabizond joins in) effectivly encircling the Ottomans from all sides.

The Russian-Turkish Agreement on reforms in Armenia was signed in Constantinople by Russian Chargés Gulkevich and Turkish Foreign Minister Said Halim Pasha.
The Agreement divided areas of the seven Armenian-populated provinces of Erzoroum, Trabizond, Sivas, Van, Bitlis, Kharput, and Diarbekir into two sectors, each to be headed by two foreign Inspectors General appointed by the Porte with the approval of the Powers.
The Inspectors would have authority over administration, justice, police, and the gendarmerie in their sectors and could have authority to dismiss "incompetent" officials and appoint lower-level bureaucrats, resolve land disputes, and dismiss judges in certain cases; they would also present nominations for high-level officials to the Porte.

Yes, they became just that weak after the defeat at Manzikert in 1066.
Although I think they should still keep Trabizond (its where Ahderbal's map shows hints of Byzantine pink in the SE "corner" of the Black Sea).

Manzikert was the blow which eventually brought down the Byzantine Empire and definately one of the most decisive battles in world history.
The Fourth Crusade also caused the Empire to fracture into atleast three pieces, if I remember right, most of which was restored, excepting the Komneni in Trabizond.
Also remember that much of the greatest treasures of Constantinople now reside in Venice and that after the Fourth Crusade there were less then 250,000 people left in Constantinople, a city that had held a million.
