TransLink, officially known as the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority, is a transportation organization which services transportation needs of the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) in British Columbia, Canada.

TransLink spokesperson Ken Hardie says while cash fares are going up by six per cent, the price of a Fare Saver book of tickets will be frozen.
TransLink is also going ahead with plans it announced last year for a commercial parking stall tax plus a 60-per-cent increase in the TransLink portion of the property tax.
Former TransLink chair George Puil, who was attacked for plans to impose a vehicle levy on Lower Mainland drivers, says the tax increases were inevitable after the levy was killed in 2001.

The TransLink board and the GVTA reached agreement, and then that plan was approved by the greater Vancouver regional district.
TransLink has, contingent upon other funding, but they're taking away funding from the completion of the Millennium Line out to Coquitlam, which has completely upset the cities of Coquitlam and Port Moody, because the Millennium Line was part of a strategic plan agreed to by everybody on TransLink.
If the board of TransLink passes a resolution to amend the strategic transportation plan by adding the Richmond-Airport-Vancouver line, the amendment must be submitted to the greater Vancouver regional district for ratification.

TransLink sees these activities as part of construction of the line, and therefore believes that their cost should be borne by the provincial government.
By mid-2000, TransLink had told the provincial government that it would not likely be able to reach an agreement with Bombardier, and in late 2000 formally advised that it had been unable to do so.
TransLink concluded that the cost of contracting operations and maintenance to Bombardier would be $4.5 million per year higher than the cost of having the work done by its subsidiary.

TransLink recently refused the federation permission to advertise its Rock The Vote campaign, calling it political.
TransLink spokesperson Ken Hardie maintains that it would be partisan political advertising, which isn't allowed on the buses.
Hardie says the rationale for the advertising policy is to protect TransLink employees – that disallowing political ads helps keep the workplace free from controversy.

 Science Fair Projects - SeaBus
The SeaBus is owned and operated by TransLink and is an important part of Greater Vancouver's integrated public transportation system.
After an earlier car ferry service stopped running in 1958, the SeaBus system was built with money originally slated for a proposed (and quashed) freeway crossing across Burrard Inlet.
During the daytime Monday-Saturday (and on Sundays during summer months), both ferries operate, with the two ferries departing simultaneously from opposite termini and passing each other halfway.
