| | Confessions of a Cycling Officer |
 | | For several months I had been the only officer attending meetings with the Trans Pennine Trail organisation who, with funding through the Millennium Commission, were overseeing the creation of the Trans Pennine Trail, a multi-user path between Stockport and Hornsea. |
 | | Consequently, the decision was made 'at the highest level' to use all the funds that had been made available for the TPT, including that provided for the cycle route, to do the required path reconstruction on this section. |
 | | Naturally, The TPT people and the Millennium Commission (and myself) still wanted to see a quality cycle route across the county, even if senior officers of the ERYC were perfectly happy to see 12 year old cyclists negotiating dangerous road junctions and cyclists pushing their machines along unridable tracks. |
