		Transactional analysis, commonly known as TA to its adherents, is a psychoanalytic theory of psychology developed by psychiatrist Eric Berne during the late 1950s.
		Another class of transaction is the 'duplex' or 'covert' transactions, where the explicit social conversation occurs in parallel with an implicit psychological transaction.

		In the Transactional Analysis model the human personality consists of three "selves" -- the impulsive "Child," the socially-conditioned "Parent," and the logical "Adult." -- any of which may be in control of a person during a social situation (called a transaction).
		While a "Parent-Child" transaction might superficially lead someone to believe that a domination-subjugation relationship is taking place, what is actually diagrammed is the clash between the authoritarian conditioning (played back by the "Parent"), on the one hand, and the instinctual feelings, such as frustration and alienation (replayed in the "Child"), on the other.
		Transactional analysis again falls short by overlooking the circumstances underwhich the transaction came about, that is, whether or not it was the product of free and voluntary association.
