The airline was established in the end of 1965 as Transavia Limburg.
The name was changed in 1966 in Transavia Holland and it began operations on 17 November 1966.
In the early 2000's, Transavia was primarily a charter airline with a low-cost airline subsidiary called Basiq Air.

Two comments: Transavia need to expand their on-line check-in facility to airports other than AMS and RTM and Rotterdam airport needs to add more Immigration Officers or train the two that are on duty there to work faster.
Well done Transavia, your airline is now at the top of our list, you run your airline like it should be run, we left our flight feeling very well looked after and happy, what a superb finish you gave us all at the end of our holiday to Spain.
Transavia is fixing this by including the additional cost into the ticket price from 3rd March 2002.

The fact that in the background another Transavia has the old colorscheme, I assume that the changeover took part in 1995.
True to their new identity as a "no-frills"-airline, Transavia saw this livery appear in its fleet: all white with Transavia.com titles.
In itself not a big surprise as this name had been written on most of their stark white airplanes all year, but a brand new colourscheme was introduced that same month as well.
