Transgression is Fear Factory’s sixth studio album and is probably their most experimental release yet.
Transgression may not be Fear Factory’s best album, but it is certainly the album they have experimented with the most.
Transgression is a successful album, but needs the heavier metal edge that Fear Factory usually provide.

It had the intensity of the old-school thrash I craved mixed with clanking industrial noises, just a touch of death metal and these cool melodic passages that seemed to be out of place, yet at the same time perfectly suited for the sound.
Transgression features the trademark mechanical-sounding drum lines and guitar riffing that Fear Factory’s known for, and the heavier parts of songs like “540,000 Degrees Fahrenheit” and the title track are as tight as anything the band has ever done.
Really, the only song on the album that sticks with me is “Millennium,” which has a nice old-school thrash feel on the verse.

This is either gonna be the album that catapults them to the top of the heap, or send them diving into the unknown.
Luckily the final track on the album, Moment Of Impact is Fear Factory fury that you have grown to love.

Audio Abrasion Review of Fear Factory 'Transgression'
Transgression is the eighth studio album from the band, but only the second with the current players of what seems to be a game of musical chairs.
Their style has always been different but this album seems a bit further removed from what we’re used to hearing.
When "Moment of Impact" hits at 53 minutes, the whole CD finishes up with a respectable ending to match a good beginning, though the filling in the middle was a little hard to swallow.

Fear Factory : Transgression - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
The band's 2005 effort, Transgression, shares that ferocity, but it's more loosely applied -- it isn't as desperate or on edge as Archetype, instead precision-channeling its rage into ambitious and efficiently written songs.
The continued, focused intensity of Transgression is evident in the way Fear Factory manages its volatile nature against keyboard lines that glower with drama and turns toward more accessible song structure.
Whether at its loudest or most dramatic, Transgression is Fear Factory at their most confident.

OZ Lounge! - New Album Review: Fear Factory's Transgression
The album strays a bit from their signature sound and is more experimental than anything they've done.
One major difference from this album and the bands previous releases is the scaling back on the snychronized bass-drum-guitar rythms that has always defined their sound.
Trangression isn't a bad album, but it isn't exactly where the band seemed like they were headed after 2004's metal-masterpiece Archetype, perhaps their heaviest release to date.

The eleven tracks on Transgression may not be completely consistent with Fear Factory albums of old, admittedly the sound compels somewhat of a softer feel, but if you screen the album as an independent work you may just find trademark Fear Factoryisms galore in a different type of album presentation.
The other cover song on the album, “Millennium” by the band Killing Joke, is perhaps one of the best songs on the album.
Just because the word “factory” is in the band's name does not mean that all of their albums should sound as if duplicated on an assembly line; the album is what it is stand alone.

Into Liquid Sky - Music Reviews
Since the band's return, they seem to have turned up their activity to eleven and with Transgression, they've managed to release two albums in two years.
The album opens with 540,000° Fahrenheit, a quick-paced thrash-fest that offers Burton a chance to be more harmonic and lighter in tone.
The final track, Moment of Impact is a return to the sledgehammer methods from previous albums, pounding the listener with thunderous drums and bass.

Archetype was not bad, had a couple of decent tracks, but Ive heard Transgression and all the tracks seem rushed and porely written, unfortunately by a band on the way down compared with the likes of In Flames and Children Of Bodum.
There are several transgressions (cough) from the usual fear factory songs, for example the near 7 minute epic "echoes of my Scream" featuring Billy Gould of Faith No More fame on bass, as well as a song co-written by members of Lamb of God.

In my opinion, this album was a great listen because it rocked hard and it was a return to form.
As evidenced by albums like "Obsolete" and the aforementioned "Digimortal," Fear Factory HAVE evolved greatly over their career, but it didn't show with "Archetype." Some fans didn't care, though; they were perfectly happy with the album, as long as it rocked hard and profusely.
You're entitled to your opinion on the album, but equally valid is the opinion of the once-fan has been severely disappointed with the album.

At first glance, their debut album "Transgression" is nothing that hasn't been done better a dozen times by vintage 80's metal bands.
But the more I listened to this album, the more I found myself discovering little things that impressed me. The guitar work throughout "Transgression" is fantastic; lots of harmonies, plenty of solos, and even some harmonized solos.
There are several instances of acoustic guitar throughout "Transgression," not a technique unique to Scourge (the oft-mentioned Testament once again comes to mind), but nonetheless another facet of enjoyment above and beyond your typical thrash band.
