Transit of Mercury - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Transits of Mercury with respect to Earth are much more frequent than transits of Venus, with about 13 or 14 per century, in part because Mercury is closer to the Sun and orbits it faster.
During a May transit, Mercury is near aphelion and has an angular diameter of 12"; during a November transit, it is near perihelion and has an angular diameter of 10".
The transit of November 15, 1999 was such a transit, and the previous one before that was on October 28, 743.

Transit of Mercury from Jupiter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A transit of Mercury across the Sun as seen from Jupiter takes place when the planet Mercury passes directly between the Sun and Jupiter, obscuring a small part of the Sun's disc for an observer on Jupiter.
The inclination of Mercury's orbit with respect to Jupiter's ecliptic is 6.29°, which is less than its value of 7.00° with respect to Earth's ecliptic.
Since Jupiter has a very large radius, the parallax of Mercury between Jupiter's center and its north or south pole would be about 20.5", which is about 16 times Mercury's apparent angular diameter of 1.3", or about 5.3% of the Sun's angular diameter (about 6.5').

 Transit of Mercury
A transit of the planet Mercury across the face of the Sun occurs on the morning of Wednesday, May 7 and, weather permitting, it will be visible from the British Isles.
This is the first Mercury transit to be visible from Britain since that of 1973 November 10, and the first in May since 1970 May 9.
Since Mercury's orbit is inclined at an angle of just over 7 degrees to the plane containing the Earth and the Sun (the ecliptic), transits can only occur when Mercury is at or near one of its two nodes (the points where its orbit intersects the ecliptic plane) and is at inferior conjunction.

Quarter Million Year Canon of Solar System Transits
From the Earth, transits of Mercury and Venus are visible; recently, observers were treated to these spectacles in back-to-back years: 2003 and 2004.
Transits are reported in barycentric dynamical time when bodies align such that an inner planet is geometrically in front of the Sun as seen from the outer planet.
We define the "centre" of the transit as the integration step with the maximum depth; for this transit of Mercury, as seen from Earth, this occurred at 07:40 UTC with a depth of 0.0669 which, within the granularity of the integration, agrees with the actual time of geocentric mid-transit at 07:52:23.
