TRANSMITTER FACTS AND INFORMATION   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
Often the transmitter frequency is not the frequency produced by the oscillator, but one of its harmonics.
Transmitters may be damaged if operated without an antenna, so protection circuits must detect the loss of the antenna and switch off the transmitter immediately.
To reduce transmission line loss the transmitter building is usually immediately adjacent to the antenna for VHF and UHF sites, but for lower frequencies it may be desirable to have a distance of a few score or several hundred metres between the building and the antenna.

 Transmitter
A transmitter is an electronic device which with the aid of an antenna propagates an electromagnetic signal such as radio, television, or other telecommunications.
The carrier frequency of the transmitter is produced by an atomic clock and brought by frequency division and multiplication to the desired value.
When transmitting antennas for long and medium-wave transmitters become usually radiating transmitting poles used, which are isolated either against earth and are fed at the toe or also as grounded constructions are implemented, which are fed over with the pardunen connected hilfsseile.

A '''transmitter''' is an electronic device which with the aid of an antenna (electronics)antenna propagates an electromagnetic radiationelectromagnetic signal such as radio, television, or other telecommunications.
A transmitter usually has a electronic power supplypower supply, an electronic oscillatoroscillator, a modulator, and amplifiers for audio (AF), intermediate frequency (IF) and radio frequency (RF).
This is important, because the electric utility billingbill for the transmitter would be enormous otherwise, as would the cost of a transmitter.

For high power transmitters in the MW range, masts with lengths around half of the radiated wavelength are preferred because they focus the radiated power better to the ground than constructions with heights of quarter wavelengths, which are preferred of economical reasons for low power medium wave transmitters.
longwave transmitters, however, the construction of masts with heights of half-wave wavelength is, because of economical reasons (and perhaps problems with the flight safety), in most cases impossible.
For transmissions in the shortwave range, the mast height has no influence of the efficiency when the masts are used for carrying the aerial.
