Transnational Institute (TNI) is an international (A company that does research for hire and issues reports on the implications) think tank for (additional info and facts about progressive politics) progressive politics.
It was established in 1974 in (An industrial center and the nominal capital of the Netherlands; center of the diamond-cutting industry; seat of an important stock exchange; known for its canals and art museum) Amsterdam and serves as a network for scholars and activists.
TNI receives part of its institutional funding from the Samuel Rubin Foundation (New York).

The Transnational Institute was founded in 1974 as a world-wide fellowship of committed scholar-activists.
It was one of the first research institutes established to be transnational in name, composition, orientation and focus.
Fellowship The Transnational Institute has been based in Amsterdam for twenty-five years hosting visiting scholars, in-house researchers, a small administrative and management staff and at the heart of TNI is the committed core of current Fellows and advisors.

The Transnational Institute was formed in 1990 to provide a base for cultural, professional and business exchanges between citizens of the United States and other nations.
In the light of the events of September 11, 2001, the Institute is considering the possibility of similar citizen exchange projects with countries in the Middle East.

These talks are just part of the major initiative by the Baker Institute's Transnational China Project to open up research and discussion on the way that radical changes, economic changes in Asia, are changing Chinese culture and values.
I find that over the now long span of my involvement with China, which began almost 35 years ago, the question of how the realities of one society are translated, not only linguistically but in a more non-verbal way, to the people in the other society, has been the most stimulating part of my work.
And indeed, China is not without its internal debates and conflicts about the nature of the institutional change which is partly a function of the advent of foreign influence and partly a function of the continuing decisions that this leadership is making, going deeper and deeper and deeper into the structures of China’s own society.

This would be similar to what many public institutions have faced as their government budgets have been reduced and they have turned to the corporations for support.

Basker left the Editorial Committee when he moved to Amsterdam, but our working relationship continued under the auspices of the Transnational Institute of which I was a fellow Fellow for a while.

The Institute's studies of international taxation respond to the expanding development of international business, finance, and investment flowing between the United States and other countries.
This project, now being developed in collaboration with Unidroit (the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law), represents an effort to draft procedural principles and rules that a country might adopt for adjudication of disputes arising from international transactions that find their way into the ordinary courts of justice.
The Transnational Civil Procedure project conjectures that a procedure for litigation in transactions across national boundaries is also worth the attempt.

 UCLA International Institute :: Transnational Feminism: A Range of Disciplinary Perspectives
This roundtable considered new scholarship on transnational feminism from a range of disciplinary perspectives, with the goal of identifying the various subject matters and methodologies with which researchers are approaching this exciting area.
The speakers were Nayereh Tohidi, associate professor of Women’s Studies at Cal State Northridge, Spike Peterson, professor in Political Science at the University of Arizona, Maylei Blackwell, assistant professor in Chicano Studies at UCLA, and Leila Rupp, professor of and head of Women's Studies at UC Santa Barbara.
The event was sponsored by UCLA's Center for Modern and Contemporary Studies, Center for the Study of Women and the Research Group on Transnational and Transcolonial Studies.

Between 1997-2003 Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology (ISCA) at the University of Oxford hosted the Directorship of the Economic and Social Research Council’s £3.8 million national research programme on Transnational Communities.
