PARAMARIBO, Suriname: For a second consecutive day, public transportation in Suriname was paralysed Tuesday by a bus strike.
In a press briefing Tuesday afternoon transport minister Alice Amafo dismissed statements of the union leader that there was an agreement for higher tariffs with the bus drivers.
Meanwhile cab drivers increased their tariffs with 50-75 percent and it is expected that other players in the transportation sector such as truckers and distributors also will raise their tariffs.
