TAP Portugal (Transportes Aéreos Portugueses) (IATA: TP, ICAO: TAP, and Callsign: Air Portugal) is the national airline of Portugal and based in Lisbon.
The airline was founded as a public service on March 14, 1945 and began commercial service on September 19, 1946, flying from Lisbon to Madrid under its original name of Transportes Aereos Portugueses (TAP).
TAP Portugal has shareholdings in a number of other airlines: White (75%), Air Sao Tome e Principe (40%), Linhas Aereas de Sao Tome e Principe (40%) and Air Macau (15%).

I think TAP needs badly an airplane to replace the A310/A340, if we can say that the A340 is still a young airplane the version TAP has, 312 version is really a "pain in the ***".
TAP needs its long haul fleet renewed and also increased, as the current long haul fleet is being used almost to his maximum extent.

Aug. 20 (Bloomberg) -- TAP-Transportes Aereos Portugueses SA, Portugal's biggest airline, said 23 passengers and two crew members were injured on a flight from Lisbon to the Azores when the pilot had to make a sudden maneuver to avoid a midair collision.
The Airbus SAS A310, with 133 passengers and eight crew members aboard, was approaching its destination in Terceira, one of the islands in the mid-Atlantic archipelago, when the pilot received a collision alert and had to make a sharp descent, the state-owned carrier said.
Many passengers didn't have their seatbelts fastened at the time, contributing to the number of injuries, TAP said.
