  TRANSPOWER NEW ZEALAND LIMITED
Transpower New Zealand Limited became a separate State Owned Enterprise on 1 July 1994 under the State Owned Enterprises Act 1986, after it ceased to be a subsidiary company of the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand Limited.
Transpower's primary activities are the bulk transportation of electrical energy, the co-ordination of power flows through the electrical system and the provision of services to the New Zealand electricity market.
Transpower ensures that there is a reliable supply of power between the generators and local networks and major consumers by ensuring there is sufficient reserve generation available to meet changes in load demand.
