This game had it all, tons of stats that changed throughout the game, ability to make your own players and teams, fighting, decent graphics for the time, 2 player, 5 on 5 with icing, and offside (if I remember correctly), you could even play one position for the duration of the game.

 CNN - 'Castlevania' for the N64 really bites - March 11, 1999
The visuals in the game are imaginative and dark, which is frankly a refreshing change from some of the happy shinny schemes in many games out for the N64.
From whinny skeletons to Goth compositions, the game succeeds in establishing a sense of atmosphere with well-placed samples throughout the game.
Overall this game is both fun and a respectable descendant of the original "Castlevania." If you're looking for a solid console game to add to your collection, this is a good place to start.

The kind of games where you run split-screen aren't half as fun because you have to put up with so much less viewport, but racing alongside of each other on a dinner table, school desk, beach, or back yard is a blast.
This game is very unlikely to breed "school shooters", rather it draws interest to the history of the war, and inevitably respect to the humans who fought it.
It's quite funny really, the game code will actually "think" it is being executed on dedicated hardware, so you still have to "insert coin" using keyboard buttons, and it will still perform a "reset" and system test each time the game is run (or "booted", if you ask the game code).

These games were released seemingly haphazardly on various formats, including the Spectrum, Amiga, Atari, PC, NES and Megadrive, by the computer software company Codemasters.

Unfortunately, the interest this game created was not to be capitalised on, as the saga ended with this release.
