The Trbovlje workers' band was founded in 1903 with the support of a cooperative society which also bought new instruments for the band; at the time, this consisted of twenty members.
The youth band was established in 1953 and was led by the conductor Andrej Tavsic with the assistance of Franc Medvesek, a bandsman in the Trbovlje workers' band.
