Treatise - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A treatise is a systematic analysis of a certain subject.
Famous treatises have been written by philosophers including Sun Tzu, Aristotle, John Locke (Two Treatises of Government), David Hume, Rene Descartes, William Godwin, Thomas Paine, Karl Marx (Das Kapital), and others.
A number of theologians have also written treatises on certain aspects of faith.

Learned treatise - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A learned treatise, in the law of evidence, is a text that is sufficiently authoritiative in its field to be admissible as evidence in a court in support of the contentions made therein.
Under the Federal Rules of Evidence, either party can introduce a learned treatise as evidence, irrespective of whether it is being used to rebut the opposing party.
Like a recorded recollection, the actual learned treatise does not go to the jury, but instead comes into evidence only by being read to the jury.

The Treatise on Response and Retribution and the Guidance to Hidden Merits are good reference materials, which provide a complete and practical explanation of the Five Precepts and the Ten Good Conducts.
Ancient virtuous people said that this treatise provides us with the steps to ascend from ordinary beings to sages and is the key to changing misfortunes into good fortunes.
The principles in the ¡§Treatise on Response and Retribution¡¨ are very profound and the cases, examples and accounts on cause and effect are numerous.

 Treatise on Leadership
In my view, the "Treatise" is a complex document that makes the strongest case for the separation of religion and state ever made in a Middle Eastern context, and is in that respect reminiscent of Hobbes, Locke and Jefferson.
The central thesis of `Abdu'l-Baha's "Treatise on Politics," that leadership in human societies is always divided between civil and religious leaders, and that each of these should stay out of the others' business, was not new with him in 19th century Iranian thought.
However, the emphasis of the treatise is not on those rights, but rather on their mutual character--the subjects also owe it to the state to keep it strong and stable and able to care for their needs and (I think it is implied) repel foreign incursions.

 Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology
Since its inception in the late 1940s, the aim of the Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology has been to present a comprehensive and authoritative yet compact statement of knowledge concerning groups of invertebrate fossils.
The Treatise, expanding in fifty years beyond Moore's wildest dream, now comprises 47 volumes, involves the work of more than 300 authors worldwide, and occupies more than 1.3 meters of shelf space.
Another dozen or so volumes are in various stages of preparation, and scarcely a month goes by in which the editor does not receive a tentative feeler from a paleontologist offering to revise a previous, now-outdated volume.

Joseph H. Beale, A Treatise on the Conflict of Laws
Writing a modern legal treatise may or may not be for the good of the profession; it is certainly not profitable for the author.
It at once directs attention to the Restatement; and the Restatement has been worked over by the most extraordinary group of teachers of the subject, of judges of distinction, and of lawyers who stand at the head of their profession, ever collected for the purpose of developing the Conflict of Laws of common-law countries.
Chapter 6, however, is based upon the author's treatise on Foreign Corporations, written thirty years ago; and it ill fits with the form of the Restatement.
