Was it related to the conclusion of the treaty of Alcacovas dividing the overseas territories betwen Spain and Portugal two years earlier?
All I'm suggesting is that if Portugal refuses to ratify the treaty (thereby keeping their core on the Canaries) that they shouldn't get this event.
I'm looking at the treaty of Alcocovas and it seems to me that it is only triggered if Portugal keeps the Canaries in the "Reconsider the Canarian Case." It also seems to be connected to an event with Castile.
