Under the 1729 Treaty of Seville, the British had agreed not to trade with the Spanish colonies.

History Of The Netherlands - Ch. 21
While the discontents of the Austrian Netherlands on the subject of the treaty of the Barrier were in debate, the quadruple alliance was formed between Holland, England, France and the emperor, for reciprocal aid against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
But, by the treaty of Hanover in 1726, the rights of Holland resulting from the treaty of Munster were guaranteed; and in consequence the emperor abolished the company of his creation, by the treaty of Seville in 1729, and that of Vienna in 1731.
The treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, definitively signed on the 18th of October, put an end to hostilities; Maria Theresa was established in her rights and power; and Europe saw a fair balance of the nations, which gave promise of security and peace.

 The Succession Laws of Parma
By the treaty of Seville of 1729 between France, Spain, and Great Britain, it was decided that Spanish garrisons would be placed in Livorno, Porto-Ferraio, Parma and Piacenza to guarantee Don Carlos's rights.
The matter was settled by a convention of June 10, 1763, whereby the king of Sardinia accepted to change his reversionary rights to the case of the ruler of Parma acceding to either of the other thrones, in exchange for a lump-sum payment representing the value of the revenues from the disputed territory.
But the treaty of Vienna of June 1815 revised the arrangements and gave Parma to Napoleon's wife only, for her life, leaving the details of the reversion for another treaty; that treaty was signed in Paris on June 10, 1817.

When peace was made between England and Spain in 1720 Stanhope became British ambassador to the latter country, and he retained this position until March 1727, having built up his reputation as a diplomatist during a difficult period.
In 1729 he had some part in arranging the treaty of Seville between England, France and Spain, and for his services in this matter he was created Baron Harrington in January 1730.
Later in the same year he was appointed secretary of state for the northern department under Sir Robert Walpole, but, like George II., he was anxious to assist the emperor Charles VI.

The treaty had only slowed down their operations, but also it was likely that the Muslims might become strong again and attempt to rebel.

GENUKI: Kings of England - G
In 1725 a treaty between Spain and the Emperor excited the jealousy of the king, who deemed it necessary to counteract it by another between Great Britain and most of the other European powers.
The Spaniards then commenced the siege of Gibraltar; but the disputes being arranged by negotiation, the British monarch set out on a journey to the continent, where he was seized with a paralytic attack, and died at Osnaburg, June 11th, 1727, in the 68th year of his age, and the 11th of his reign.
During these events the king received numerous demonstrations of attachment to his person and family; and it was obvious that the majority of the nation were satisfied that, by supporting the House of Hanover, they, in fact, maintained the interests of civil liberty.

Ironically in the Declaration of Nice itself, but also in the Seville Declarations, in the new Constitutional amendment, in our National Forum, in the European Convention and in Oireachtas reform, we have been seeking to craft that response, and to take the people’s concerns fully on board.
This White Paper is intended to describe the contents of the Treaty in a factual, objective way.
However, over and above this, it is fundamentally the duty of political leaders - and of all others who care passionately, one way or another, about Ireland and Europe - to breathe life into the issues, to bring our views before the people, to argue and to respond to the ebb and flow of debate.
