		While Gallus marched on Rome, an outbreak of plague (A serious (sometimes fatal) infection of rodents caused by Yersinia pestis and accidentally transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected rat flea (especially bubonic plague)) struck the city and killed the young Hostilian.
		Gallus is often accused of persecuting the Christians (A religious person who believes Jesus is the Christ and who is a member of a Christian denomination), but the only solid evidence of this allegation is the imprisoning of Pope Cornelius (additional info and facts about Pope Cornelius) in 252.
