Tredegar is a town in the county borough of Blaenau Gwent, traditional county of Monmouthshire, lying on the Sirhowy River in southern Wales, United Kingdom.
The historic Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond, Virginia, United States of America was named in honour of the town.
It was also the birthplace of former Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock and his predecessor Michael Foot was MP for the consituency Tredegar lies in - Blaneau Gwent - during his time as party leader.

Tredegar House in Newport, set in a beautiful 90 acre (360,000 m²) park, is one of the best examples of a 17th century Charles II mansion in Britain.

I left Tredegar in 1972 and now live in New Hampshire, U.S.A. Since all my family are still in Tredegar(I`m sure you know at least one of the Moore clan) I visit at least once a year.
Comment: I live in Tredegar myself in James Street I must agree that Tredegar is a town of greta interset but i must add that there isn't a great deal of activities for us youngsters perhaps that can be changed.
I was born in Tredegar in the 1960's and lived there until 1985.
